Ashe studio notes continued…..
22 Apr 2010
There are just so many scraps of prints in my studio – This is “Lost City” on White Canvas from years and years ago – my 2005 collection I believe…There is no way I can throw these pieces away…I might turn it into a canvas tote bag…ho hum…

If you love printed fabric and you love the hand made then you have probably heard of Cath Kidston. Cath is both a designer and author. Her book “In Print – an inspirational guide to using print in your home” shows off her simple vintage styling. Cath uses old often vintage fabrics and un-fussily applies them to all sorts of home based craft projects. As a designer she creates great tote bags and purses, aprons, tea towels etc – a true domestic goddess! Go to: www.cathkidston.co.uk
Oriental Window Display
19 Apr 2010
I found this picture in one of my coffee-table design books….The book is about Oriental style but I was particularly drawn to this image as it shows off the unique way in which many oriental style stores show off their produce – en masse – lots of pieces crammed together with repeating motifs in colour and shape….these celadon ceramics look amazing stacked together in the window of a Chinese store….love it love it!

This is the latest croquis (textile sketch) I’ve been working on for my Ashe homewares range. The range is taking a while to complete as pregnancy has gotten in the way!
Hopefully the range of cushions, totes, purses etc will be in store and up on the website for Spring this year – I will keep you posted!

With best ever basics from “Lucy in the Sky” made from slinky soft jersey – you will feel stylish and warm this Autumn in beautiful Ashe pieces….
Hand Silk Screen Printing
06 Apr 2010
Hand screen printed textiles are the hallmark of Ashe. Although screen printing is extremely arduous, the results always keep me going back to do more. You really can’t beat the look of hand printed silk – it’s almost alchemical to watch a table full of plain silk suddenly become drenched in exquisite decadent ornamental designs that I’ve drawn myself. This piece of fabric I’m printing here will be transformed into dresses for autumn…hope you enjoy the picture….
