Ashe for Nautica
An interesting project for me has popped up – an opportunity to exhibit work at “The Future of Apparel Summit” in North Carolina USA. It is very much a departure for me from my usual work – but nonetheless a worthy undertaking of my time as it is a funded contractual brief from The Chelsea School of Design in London’s TED project (Textile, Environment, Design). Bradley Quinn put my name forward to design an emergency jacket for Nautica – (a US Sailing company) and the TED project funded it to be prototyped and exhibited at the Summit. I’m really happy with the result. The jacket features LED lights which are activated by a button in the sleeve. If you go overboard in stormy weather the waterproof jacket can be activated to flash morse code or alternatively used as a torch in low light conditions. Unfortunately I can’t make it to America to see the event…Oh Well!
