Inspired by the historical ornament and dress of cultures antique, vintage and exotic, Director Kelsey Ashe has a deep fascination with pattern and decoration and its use in our lives. Kelsey has completed both an Honours and Masters degree in Art and is currently completing her PhD in this field, researching in particular how a traditional Japanese aesthetic has influenced the design of contemporary Australian printed textiles and illustrations.
The Ashe fashion label has participated in National and local Fashion Festivals regularly since its inception in 2003, as well as appearing in regular exhibitions to showcase in particular, the signature Ashe illustrative style. Ashe products have been stocked in boutiques in Germany, Ireland, Dubai and the United Kingdom and of course here in Australia.
Prints created by Kelsey Ashe have been used by leading Australian labels Akira Isogawa, Empire Rose, Morrison, Wheels and Dollbaby and more recently Kelsey has been commissioned by international labels Nautica and the Vanity Fair Corporation. In 2012 Kelsey was invited to exhibit at the Future of Apparel Summit in the U.S.A. facilitated by the Chelsea School of Design in London’s T.E.D. (Textiles Environment Design) Project.
Kelsey’s commitment to excellence in her field of design and art has also seen her work published in the International publication “Fashion Futures” by Merrel Publishers UK and Ashe textiles and illustrations have been showcased in “Textile Visionaries – Innovation and Sustainability in Textile Design” by renowned London based fashion journalist Bradley Quinn.
