Working with Akira Isogawa
30 Sep 2015
In April of this year I went to Sydney to visit Akira Isogawa in his studio as part of a research trip for my PhD. I showed him my work and I asked him if he would like me to design some prints for his collections which he agreed yes! So now we are in the process of organising how it’s going to work and how we will go about the process…Very exciting!

Ashe design for Patrick McMurray
22 May 2012
Ashe was delighted to be able to design a silk tie for the Patrick McMurray label. Patrick’s Australia series was perfect for my “Cockatoos” print, seen here in the beautiful silk embroidery of this luxury tie. New Ashe Print
04 Aug 2011
Here is a detail from one of my new print designs “Antipodean Orientalism”, or “Paradise Lost”…it has two titles! Look closely to discover the clues to the geographical location; the Sydney Harbour bridge lurks amongst other buildings, such as churches, mosques and pagoda’s. Look even closer to see the motif’s reference to pollution; steaming cooling tanks and spewing drains are included to create a gritty twist in this otherwise picturesque oriental print….
Joshua Yeldham Art
11 Apr 2011
I have recently discovered the exquisite work of Joshua Yeldham. Yeldham mills his own paper and then paints, prints and carves into the paper, creating a textured and layered surface. His work is also relevant to me for his hybridisation of Eastern disciplines and modes of working with Australian motifs and imagery. His first solo international show will be this year in China at The Space Gallery…
Inspiration from the home of Beci Orpin
25 Feb 2011
You may be familiar with Beci Orpin – she is a well known Australian illustrative designer…rather than showing an example of her work – I’m more inspired by the decoration of her son’s bed room! Considering my son is going through a phase of ripping the pages out of his story books – I will take a leaf from Beci; and stick them to the wall!
More Bruce Gould….
20 Nov 2010
Another image from Bruce Gould – Best known for his work with Mambo in the 1990’s, I still enjoy these pieces as they appear to heavily borrow references from Japanese style cut stencils, all mixed up with other cultural motifs and a quirky Australian beach feel.
