Well School holidays are over, my son is back at school and I’m home with my darling daughter who is now 10 weeks old! All that baby sleeping time has me back in the studio…getting inspired to create a new range, getting a little bit more organised and also a getting in a bit of PhD research too…I love the lifestyle of the Designer/Maker; I’m a lucky girl!
On the Surface Textiles Exhibition…aftermath…
Wow, our On the Surface Exhibition and Ashe on-line store Event has come and gone…it was wonderful. Such a great response from everyone, and working in the Moores Building is really enjoyable…those beautiful crumbling walls, cafe attached, live music on a wednesday morning! Sheree took this picture of me sitting in front of my Wall Paper scrolls…I’m 34 weeks pregnant…Ahhhhhh!
Welcome to 2013, the year of the snake!
Welcome to 2013 – Year of the Water Snake! According to Chinese Astrology 2013 is the Year of the Snake whose colours are black and green – one of my favourite colour combinations. My Chinese Astrological sign is also the Snake so I am looking forward to a creative year influenced by the Snake’s mobility, dynamism, and changeability – it’s exciting stuff for my creative soul! Here is a sneak peak of a print from my new ASHE collection coming out in February – it’s called “Sacred Temple” and depicts a floating world washed in green. Happy New Year to you all – may the Snake bring you a year where anything is possible!
SoDA12 – New Ashe Textile prints
Hi Everyone, a series of my textile designs called “Antipodean Orientalism” is now on Show at The John Curtin Gallery in Bentley. This picture of me at the gallery was recently in the Cockburn Gazette so I thought I would post it here too. The exhibition will be on until the 14th of December, Mon-Fri 11am-5pm and Sunday 1-4pm.
Playing my favourite game…
And life goes back to normal….working in the studio…designing, playing, cutting, printing. I’m working on a homewares range (have been for sooooo long now….trying to find the time!) but it is still happening…I promise!!
I do love winter but It’s ccccc cold! And so now I am dreaming of warmer places!…like Borobodour in Central Java. This was one of the hottest days I’ve ever experienced – it was steaming! This 12th Century Buddhist complex was one of the highlights of travelling to this area – and something nice to meditate on while its cold and raining outside….
Autumn Kelsey Ashe Days…
Oh how I love Autumn weather….Crisp days with bright sunshine that slowly thaws you out…Here I am at Cottesloe Civic Centre, enjoying the weekend with my family…and wearing of course ASHE…the new Long line Pencil skirts are going to be my favourite thing over winter…and probably next spring too! I promise I will get them down to the shop as soon as possible!
The Studio Nest
The nest of inspiration….I love getting lost in my studio….surrounded by books, sketch books, pin ups, music, incense, coffee, coffee, coffee….!
My little Studio helper
Working Mums know how much fun(!) it can be to juggle small children and getting that list of things to do complete…Today in my studio, my Son colour co-ordinated with my new stock, and discovered the joys of self reflection….let the good times roll!
Women of the Cloth! Cara Waza
My old buddy old pal Cara – here we are pictured at a Day of The Dead concert (my husband’s band!) Cara and I have collaborated many times over the years – creating labels together, sharing studios and doing LOTS of printing together…Cara is now working in the production of the yoga wear/ lifestyle label Samudra – the perfect job for Cara – who is a creative wanderlust through and through!
